Alessandro Frigeri

Planetary Mapping Lab coordinator

I’m a researcher at the Istituto di Astrofisica e Planetologia Spaziali of the Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica. I’m a geologist by training but since my studies I have been programming computers to solve problems in the field and from the remote sensing data. I have installed GRASS GIS from a bunch of floppy disks in 1995.

At IAPS/INAF since 2010, my research focuses on planetary remote sensing data processing, geologic interpretation, interoperability of data and protocols. I’m currently involved in analogue field campaings comparing the geology of planetary bodies with the geology of our planet.
